Dentelles de Montmirail and the Mont-Ventoux - View from Durban

Beaumes-de-Venise, the Vaucluse, the Provence…

Beaumes-de-Venise is located in an area called Vaucluse (who means "closed valley"). Carpentras is 9 km far and Avignon is 38 km far.

This pretty village nestles on the foot of famous Dentelles de Montmirail, near from the "Giant" of Provence: the Mont-Ventoux (1912 m). Classified Reserve of Biosphere by UNESCO, this massif is an excellent starting point for fabulous pedestrian or cyclists excursions.

The village preserved historical vestiges to discover: parish church (16th cent.), Notre-Dame d'Aubune's vault (9th and 10th), prehistoric caves of Ambrosi and Rocalinaud, vestiges of the feudal castle (12th), the old part of the village, ramparts, fountains… like its traditions: the mill with olive oil (the co-operative "La Balméenne"), the co-operative cellar
Beaumes-de-Venise is famous for its wines classified in Côtes du Rhône, in particular its famous Muscat which you will be able to quietly taste at Chez Marius, under the shade of a tree. Our vineyard is located on the Wine Road, near those of Gigondas, Vacqueyras or Cairanne, and the Côtes du Ventoux.

Shops, the market and restaurants are less than one kilometer far. With the liking of the seasons, you will be able to discover specialities of the Provence like truffle, olive and its by-products, asparagus, lavender, cherries, strawberries, candied fruits, berlingot sweets or the traditional thirteen desserts for Christmas…

Vaucluse and provençal Drôme offer many interesting touristic places (natural park of Luberon, Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, Sénanque Abbey…) or cities and villages: Avignon (Popes' Palace, Saint-Bénézet bridge, walls, museums…), Gordes*, Roussillon* (ochres), Séguret*, Venasque*, Lourmarin*, Ménerbes*, L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue (secondhand goods and antics markets), Carpentras and Cavaillon (markets, jewish heritage), Orange (antic theatre and monuments), Dieulefit (ceramics) …
*classified «  nicest french villages »

Thanks to our favorable climate, activities are numerous, all along the year: climbing, pedestrian excursion, bike tour and MTB mountain biking (Cycles Louison, bikeshop available in the village), tennis, golfing, horsemanship, skiing in winter, Paty lake in Caromb, rivers…
During summertime, many cultural festivities animate the area (Theatre Festival of Avignon, lyric operas during Chorégies of Orange, Estivales of Carpentras, the Vaison-la-Romaine Dance Festival, Bollène, Lacoste, Gordes…).

But you can also quite simply rest in Chez Marius!
